The School of Information Technology and Computer Science, Nile University (ITCS) at Nile University is seeking to hire one full-time Research Assistant (RA) starting Fall 2021 (2-year fixed-term appointments). The successful applicant:
• Will actively engage in applied research activities within the Center for Informatics Science (CIS) and the Bioinformatics Group.
• Will study towards his/her M.Sc. degree in Informatics at ITCS.
• Will be offered a full M.Sc. program tuition waiver and be paid a competitive monthly stipend.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬:
• High Throughput NGS Data Analysis
• Statistical Analysis, Visualization, and Interpretation of the Analysis results.
• Programming and Algorithm design skills
𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬
• Graduate from Schools/programs of Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Science, Pharmacy, or any related fields.
• Experienced in analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data (for example whole Shotgun, 16S rRNA amplicon, cDNA, RNA-Seq, and Chip-Seq sequencing data).
• Experience in pipelines for SNP detection, calling, and annotation including novel variants.
• Familiar with Linux OS and scripting Languages such as Bash shell, Awk, and Python.
• Driving biological inference from analyzed data using statistical packages like R and SPSS.
• Familiar with molecular biology concepts and different aspects of biological problems.
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken)
• Good Writing Skills and experience in the academic writing background
• Published paper is a plus
• High ability of self-learning and reasoning
